Consultations for Private Gardens

Artist Heidi Clinite is also a gardener and she wants to design your home and community garden landscape!

Since starting Maypop Garden Designs for community spaces in 2022, Heidi keeps getting requests from people to help with their home gardens. She loves this opportunity to grow and is now expanding her business to meet these demands.

Schedule a consultation for the soon, so we can start planting in the spring or fall!

During the consultation, we will discuss location of garden beds, types of plants and garden styles. Heidi will take notes and pictures and take in consideration already existing plants. She will then research additional plants specific for your garden. She will sketch designs, a map layout for those plants, write a list of plants, budget, where to purchase them, and when to plant them. Heidi will also help you plant the garden if requested. But first, clients will need to sign a contract prior to consultation and make a deposit.

Disclosure: Heidi is not a licensed landscape architect, so she cannot design an irrigation system for you. However, she is a passionate lifelong gardener with an artistic eye. Your garden will not look like a boring average corperate-designed yard. It will be unique, whimsical and inviting!

When it comes to gardening, Heidi makes a point to be as resourceful and organic as possible. So she makes a point to not use garden fabric or chemicals. Her resourcefulness makes things budget friendly. When it comes to design, Heidi takes into consideration the existing environment, how to make the space user-friendly to those engaging with it while simultaneously beautiful and inviting.

Community Gardens

Do you know of a community garden or park in need of a green thumb? With your input, Heidi will determine what plants will thrive best in your public space. She will design the layout and plant the beds with the assistance of your volunteers. Once the plants are settled, Heidi will develop a watering and weeding plan your group can maintain. Heidi will gladly do monthly or seasonal check ups on your garden and help you plan for other seasons.

Heidi has designed and planted community gardens at The Creative Alternative and Campus Clubs. She recently redesigned the Campus Clubs garden in their playground so it’s more accessible for the kids. They will break ground on the project this summer and work on it throughout the fall.

In addition to these community spaces, Heidi has designed a couple of other community gardens for potential spaces that may come to fruition in the long run. To see the plans for these secret gardens, join her Patreon!

Heidi’s Home Garden

Heidi and her hubby Kris are reworking their home garden after having volunteer trees cut down. There is a lot more sun, which is great for her husband’s vegetable garden! They have planted a bunch of trees, it just takes time for them to shade the yard again. Her puppy, Clementine, is very helpful with digging holes.

They have also recently dug and installed a lily pond! Kris was able to reuse an old electric pump he had from a hydroponic system. Clementine loves playing in it and chomping on the water hyacinths. Heidi planted all around it and can’t wait for the flowers to fill in!

Please note: water hyacinths are invasive and should not be put into any natural waterways. They should be kept in containers. As you can see, they multiplied so quickly from the one or two that they started with. Their only natural predator is the Clementine, lol. The flower is really pretty though!
